Allamuchy State Park, with its 12 miles of forest roads and singletrack, is a place worth seeking out. Riding is a mixed bag, including everything from easy cruising on well-graded forest roads to challenging opportunities on an equal number of singletrack. The most difficult trail my son and I have done to date in New Jersey. Very rocky. Significant up and downs. Poorly marked (attempt to follow the red markers which we assume were once white markers). Do not panic when you get lost (highly likely). Bring a compass, cell phone, plenty of fluids, and from singletracks.com
Nice granite climbing from 5.2 to .11ish. The cliffs reach about 80 feet in height. Excellent mix of thin slabby face climbs and blocky corner and crack systems. Hidden boulders and a series of smaller faces further up the mountain for crowded weekends. Most routes are toproped. There are some easy from rockclimbing.com
