The first section of the Dakota Rail Regional Trail opened in June 2009. It occupies the former Dakota Rail corridor, which ran for a total length of 44 miles to Hutchinson, Minnesota. The corridor was bought in 2001 by the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) and the railroad author from traillink.com
Really, I can't think of a way this trail could be improved. The path is smooth and it is paved all the way to Mayer. If you are riding out from the Twin Cities you can g... from traillink.com
