What is a Safer Route about?

With the safer routes at their fingertips, users are empowered to make informed decisions about their travel plans. Here's how it benefits the user:

Scout Maps calculates the safest route to the destination and avoids potentially hazardous routes. For each route we are calculating a route safety score, based on the information available in our backend. At the core we have trained our AI model with information on past incidents on the roads. Identifying streets and highway segments that have a higher risk for an accident. Based on this model we are adding factors for maneuvers that are statistically more dangerous than others (e.g. unguarded left turns or complex intersections).

Knowing all this, when calculating the route for you, we are considering alternatives that provide a better safety score. To let you have a choice and drive even more safely.

    04

Can you provide more details on the benefits of the Safety Score feature?

This personalized tool is designed to provide you with real-time insights into your driving behaviors. Drawing upon comprehensive statistical data regarding vehicular crashes and their causes, we have developed a sophisticated model that pinpoints key risk factors while you're on the move. These include hard braking and acceleration, speeding, nighttime driving, and phone distraction. Each trip you take is evaluated based on these risk factors, in correlation with the miles driven, to calculate your Safety Score.

Your score starts at an ideal 100, which is then adjusted based on the number and severity of detected events during your drive. This final score offers a clear, concise reflection of your driving habits on each trip.

    What are driving insights?

Our system automatically calculates your Safety Score for every trip, presenting it upon your arrival at your destination or when you return home. This effortless integration ensures you're consistently informed about your driving performance without any additional effort on your part. For a more detailed analysis, visit the Safety Dashboard, where a comprehensive summary of your trips over recent weeks or months is readily available. This dashboard serves as a powerful tool, enabling you to track your progress over time, identify consistent patterns, and make informed decisions to improve your driving behavior.
