The right of way this trail follows is in its third reincarnation. It originated, in 1833, as the towpath of the Crooked Lake Canal. In 1844 it became the Penn Yan and New York Railway. In 1981 it morphed into the Keuka Lake Canal Trail and now is a year-round draw for hikers, bikers, and skiers. T from trailpeak.com
